Classic Submersible Fluorometer

Classic Submersible Fluorometer

Aquation’s Classic Submersible Fluorometer Sensors measure the variable fluorescence of photosystem II using the PAM method, a well-established measure of plant viability. Submersible to 70 m, sensors can be installed on a ROV/AUV, operated by diver, or installed in situ for autonomous monitoring. They can be used in offshore environment surveys, structure corrosion assessments (potential) and marine biology studies.

Aquation’s Classic Submersible fluorescence sensors use a modulated blue excitation light to excite leaf chlorophyll fluorescence, which is then filtered and measured. Photochemical light-conversion efficiency (Fv/Fm, effective quantum yield) is determined using the PAM method.

Fully submersible sensors are available (70 m maximum depth).

SDI-12, RS485 or ethernet link the sensor to a datalogger or process controlled system (e.g. SCADA). Wireless telemetry (up to 500 m or cellular in air) enables remote operation to floating platform. The datalogger option enables full 24 hour deployments, especially useful for measuring the full range of yield values from midday sun to nighttime when photosystems are fully relaxed, providing a useful baseline for comparison.

The Classic Submersible Fluorometer sensor has been extensively tested in the field.
